Corbett
The
world-famous Jim Corbett National Park is just 60 miles away from
Naukuchiatal. A beautiful 2 hours drive will take you from the Lake Resort
to the home of the Royal Bengal Tiger.
While the majestic tigers are definitely the chief attraction of the Corbett
Park, they are not the only reason why thousands of visitors come here every
year from every nook and corner of the world. The Corbett National Park is
also home to hundreds of different species of animals – besides the tiger
these include the Leopard, Barahsingha, Cheetal, Sambhar, Nilgai, Barking
Deer, Rhesus Monkey, Spotted Deer, Hog Deer and many more.
Did you know that the Corbett has such a wide variety of avi-fauna that it
is a designated bird sanctuary too? The Laughing Thrush, Kingfisher,
Long-tailed Broadbill, Oriole, Parakeet and Kaleej are only a handful of the
over 300 species of birds you can see and hear in this park.
Corbett is criss-crossed by two rivers – the Ramganga and Kosi which are
both rich with a variety of fishes making Corbett an angling paradise.
Anglers come here to try their hands at Mahaseer fishing, which is supposed
to be the ultimate catch in freshwater fishing.
While you are here, also check out the Corbett Falls and the Jim Corbett
Museum – both located in close vicinity of the park.
