NainitalNainital

Nainital is the most popular amongst the hill-stations in the Kumaon Himalayas. Located at an altitude of 1939 metres above the sea level, this lovely hill town has at its centre the pretty Naini Lake surrounded by seven hills. The lake and the mall around are the lifeline of Nainital. After the Naukuchiatal, this is the largest lake in the Lake District.

The name sources its origin to the Hindu goddess Naina Devi. Nain in Hindi refers to the ‘eye’.
